How to Perform a Site Assessment

Congratulations on the purchase of your VanHome! As your delivery day nears, site preparation is key. Check out the videos below to help ensure a smooth delivery of your VanHome.

How To Measure Your Site

The first step in your VanHomes site assessment, checking the fall of your site. Please watch the video below:

Summary of How to Measure Your VanHome Site:

  • A VanHome typically comes supplied with a 3 tread stair, both front and back
  • If your site has a greater than 300mm fall front to back, or 200mm fall side to side we may need to consider having a different size for your stairs
  • VanHomes are able to supply you with a basic tool kit (bubble level & string line) so you are able to take these measurements yourself
  • From these measurements, we then ask you to forward them to VanHomes as soon as you are able to ensure your VanHome gets built with the most suitable stairs for your site
  • Completing these steps will help enable a smoother delivery of your VanHome

Site Assessment:

Completing a Site Assessment for your VanHome

Summary of How to Complete your Site Assessment:

  • Before the day of your VanHome delivery, considering things like:

    • Road Condition - Is it gravel, dirt or sealed surface?
    • Overhanging Obstacles - Is there overhanging trees, powerlines or any telephone/electricity lines?
    • The Driveway - Note down the width and condition of your driveway. Is there any potholes or soft spots on the grass? Are there any narrow parts or gates we need to pass through?
  • Inspect the Road to your Property:
    • Width - Your VanHome will be 2.5 metres wide and can range from anywhere from 3.6m to 10.6m. Please ensure the road can accommodate the size of your VanHome
    • Any Obstacles - Please either mark or remove (where possible) any obstacles that may be in the way when putting your VanHome into its position.
  • Check your properties entrance:
    • Gateways and Entrance - Measure the width of any gates or entrances to ensure they are wide enough for the towing vehicle and VanHome.
    • Ground level - mark out if there are any drastic slopes or dips that may impact the height and angle of the VanHome when being delivered.
  • Final Preparation:
    • Photos and measurements - Take detailed photos and provide any necessary measurements (gates, narrow sections etc) to our customer service team. This step will help ensure a smoother delivery process of your VanHome.
    • Clear Pathway - Move any vehicles out of the way and ensure there is plenty of space for our delivery vehicles to manoeuvrer. When you're VanHomes arrives, please ensure all people and pets are safely out of the way.
