VanHome Plumbing
Getting connected to utilities for gas and plumbing for your VanHome is easy.
Plumbing and Gas:
IMPORTANT: When your local plumber connects your VanHome to water/sewer/or gas, it is very important they RECHECK ALL connections and fittings (NOTE: even those done in our Factory as these may come loose in transport). Whilst all of our vans are pressure tested prior to departing the factory, this full system check is required by your plumber BEFORE you use your Van Home. If your plumber does not perform these checks, this may result in non-warrantable issues, incurring additional fees. Should you require clarification on the above please contact VanHomes.
Due to the nature of our products some aspects of the plumbing can't be commissioned by Van Homes plumbers before the van is installed.
TO BE COMMISSIONED BY YOUR PLUMBER:
GAS:
If you have selected a Gas Hot Water System (HWS) or Gas Cooking appliances, you will need to do the following:
a) You will need to get a licensed Gas Fitter Plumber to connect up the remaining gas lines and LPG Hot water system (some lines are disconnected for transport). NOTE: All Gas work is completed and tested in our factory, however some lines and fittings must be removed for transport, meaning that only a licensed gas fitter can reconnect these.
b) Existing Gas lines to be refitted and commissioned (EG to gas regulator, to hot water system.)
c) Pressure check all gas lines and gas appliances; and manometer test at the hot water system to ensure pressure drops don't exceed minimum required pressures.
d) If you have chosen LPG fittings, you will need to organise Gas Bottles ready for your plumber. Gas bottles need to be' installed on a firm, level, non-combustible base and not resting on soil'.
e) Mains Gas Vs LPG: it is important to note that each has different gas jets. The relevant jets are installed at the factory and tested. It may affect performance if incorrect jets are installed.
WATER:
a) Water supply to be reinstalled and connected to the hot water system (if gas hot water is used)
b) If an electric HWS, ensure that water is connected to the VanHome and the hot water cylinder is full before turning on the HWS at the main switch board, to prevent the element from burning out.
c) Charge water lines and inspect re-connections and clean HWS filters.
d) Ensure adequate water pressure and flow is being delivered to the van (200-500kpa and minimum 3 litres per minute recommended)
e) All S-traps have been tested during manufacture, but due to transport, loosening can occur. Please re-test S-Traps and then tighten if necessary.
f) If a back to wall toilet has been installed, please ensure P trap variable bend is at the marked height and not dislodged during drainage install.
g) If the water supply to be used is tank, river or bore water make sure to install a particulates filter in the supply line to removed small debris, otherwise the HWS will possibly fail, especially LPG units as they are sensitive to suspended particles.
